A

The leaders of the big powers, especially the US, Soviet Union, and Great Britain met several times near the end of the Second World War in order to figure out what the post-war world was going to be like. Q

What are two ways in which the Cold War and decolonization were entangled?

A

Each “trend: was linked by the actions of anti-colonial movements. The leaders of these anti-colonial movements were always looking for allies and supporters so they could achieve power for their colonies. These leaders of the movements thought that one or both of the great powers that were in the middle of a conflict, the United States and Soviet Union, would help them. The second way is that both the US and the Soviet Union could be recruited to help anti-colonial movements. Both of the world powers declared that they were anti-empires, but many believe that these powers were trying to build their own empires.

Q

On what basis do some historians argue that both superpowers were building empires of their own?

A

Some historians argue that the USSR (Soviet Union) and United States were building empires of their own due to the fact that the US was practicing some informal type of imperialism where they simply removed leaders, and eliminated their threats by replacing them, and the second reason that historians argue that the 2 superpowers were trying to build empires of their own is because the Soviet Union was trying to dominate the Eastern European states allies.
