d)i) an alteration of course to port for a vessel forward if the beam, other than for a vessel being overtaken;

What are the limitations of radar?

A
  1. Echoes may be obscured by sea or rain clutter
  2. Misalignment of the heading marker
  3. Small vessel, ice and other floating objects may not be detected by radar.
  4. Masts or other structural features may cause shadow or blind sectors on the display.
  5. The quality performance of the radar needs to be checked regularly.
  6. Video processing techniques should be used with care.
