Who coined the term ‘Rajput Paintings’ and why?
Anand Coomarswamy coined this term in 1916 to differentiate the Indigenous tradition of painting on the mainland before the Mughals’ conquest. He chose this name because most of the rulers and patrons of Rajasthan were Rajputs. They are also known as Hindu painitng and Rajasthani painitngs as well.
What were these paintings made on?
Waslis, thin sheets of handmade paper glued together to form a thick page.

A scribe is a person who makes copies of manuscripts before the invention of automatic printing.
