Random Flashcards
(24 cards)
Phrenic nerve:
5, 6, 7 cervical nerves
Brachial plexus
- formed by contributionf from last three cervical and first two thoracic
Long thoracic nerve
Serratus ventralis
Thoracodorsal nerve
latissimus dorsi
Cranial and caudal pectoral nerves
Pectoral muscles
Subscapular nerve
Subscapularis
Lateral thoracic nerve
cutaneous trunci
Suprascapular nerve
- leaves brachial plexus at C6-7
- supraspinatous and infraspinatus
Musculocutaneous nerve
- C7-C8
- Proximal branch- coracobrachialis and biceps
- Main part then travels into distal third of arm
- then passess under terminal part of biceps brachii to supply brachialis and medial cutaneous nerve of forearm
Axillary nerve
- C8
- Supplies teres major, minor, capsularis and deltoideus
Radial nerve
- Last 2 cervical and first thoracic nerves
- supplies triceps, tensor fasciae antebrachii and aconeus
- Supplies all carpal and digital extensor muscles and ulnaris lateralis
- damage- paralysis of elbow extensors, paralysis of carpal and digital extensors and denervated skin regions
Median nerve
- Last cervical and first thoracic nerves
- motor to carpal flexors
- palmar part of foot
flexor muscles of carpus and digit
Ulnar nerve
- Caudal part of C8-T2
- supply skin on lateral aspect of forefoot
- supplies interosseous and other small muscles of foot
Sensory branches to skin and deeper structures
Femoral nerve
- L4-L6 cranial part
innervates quadriceps
Saphenous nerve
- innervates sartorius and supplies skin over medial aspect of the limb from stifle to metatarsus
Obturator nerve
L4-L6
Short cranial gluteal nerve
tensor fascia latae, middle and deep gluteal, superficial gluteal muscles
Caudal gluteal nerve, caudal cutaneous femoral nerve
superfical gluteal muscle, vertebral heads of origin of the hamstring muscels - biceps femoris, semitendinosus and semimem
- skin over caudal aspect of thigh
Sciatic nerve
- common peroneal and tibial
- internal obturator, gemelli and quads femoris
Common peroneal n
runs with tibial nerve and then separated
- branches to fibula
- superficial- supplies skin over dorsal aspect of leg and foot
- deep- dorsolateral muscles of leg and sensory to foot
damage causes overextension of hock and flexion of digits
Tibial nerve
- some goes to the caudal sural nerve to skin and distal muscular branches to gastroc, soleus, popliteus and caudal crural muscles
Sensory and divides into plantar nerves - plantar aspect of foot to supply sensation to plantar structures
damage- overflexion of hock and overextension of digits
Pudendal nerve
- Usually S1-S3
- Sensory to rectum, perineal skin and internal and external repro organs
- Motor to striated perineal musculature
- dorsal nerve of penis
- superficial perineal branch- skin of anus, vulva and ventral perineal region
Deep perineal nerve
- Supplies ventral part of striated musculature of perineum and repro organs
- Skin of prepuce and scrotum
Caudal rectal nerves
- Snsory fibers to rectum, anus and perianal skin and morot to dorsal perineal striated muscles - levator ani
