which will include looking at your back passage and inserting my finger gently to have a feel for any abnormalities

It will be a bit uncomfortable but shouldn’t be severely painful. But if it is sore or if you need me to stop for any reason please say so and I will

3. Explanation of chaperone:
   due to the nature of the procedure I’ll be gettting another member of staff to chaperone. They are fimalier with the procdure and are here for your comfort and the safety of both os us
   IS THIS OK?
4. Positioning
   could you take off your trousers and underwear and lie on your left side with you bottom near the edge of the bed and your knees bent towards your chin
5. COVER BOTTOM WITH TOWEL

1. squeeze gel onto a tissue and put gloves on
2. Inspection
   anal tone
   “bare down”- prolapse
   fissures
   heamarroids
   rash
3. Rectal
   place lubricated finder on opening and wait for relax
   insert
   -ask to squeeze finger- anal tone
   - rotate finger mention any abnormalities
   - bare down- polyps
   - prostate- size

2. take note of feaces
3. remove gloves and wash hands
4. REPLACE TOWEL
5. thank patient, provide tissues and allow to get redressed
