Redemption Flashcards
What are the four steps of redemption
. The death of Jesus
. The burial of Jesus
. Jesus’ resurrection
. The ascension
What is the coming of the holy spirit?
the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and immediately had the ability to speak foreign languages.
3 reasons decorations matter in churches
They honor and show respect to God – Beautiful decorations help create a sacred and respectful space for worship.
They help people feel the spirit of the occasion – Decorations reflect special events like Christmas or Easter, helping people focus and feel connected.
They teach and inspire – Images, symbols, and colors can tell stories from the Bible and help people understand their faith better.
3 reasons why decorations in church don’t matter
Faith is more important than appearance – Worship should focus on God, not how the place looks.
They can be distracting – Too many decorations might take attention away from prayer and the message.
They cost money – The money used for decorations could instead help those in need or support church missions.
What is the purpose of the tabernacle?
The purpose of the tabernacle in a church is to store the consecrated Eucharist — the Body of Christ — safely and reverently.
What is salvation?
Salvation means that Jesus saves us from our sins so we can be close to God and live with Him forever (in heaven).
What is the Eucharist?
The Eucharist is a Christian sacrament where believers receive bread and wine that represent (or become, in Catholic belief) the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
What is transubstantiation
Transubstantiation is the belief that, during the Eucharist, the bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Christ, while retaining their outward appearance.
Contrasting views on the eucharist
Transubstantiation (Catholic view): The belief that the bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Christ, though their appearance remains unchanged.
Symbolic Presence (Protestant view): The belief that the bread and wine are symbols that represent Christ’s body and blood, but do not actually become them.
Why did Jesus need to come?
Jesus came to offer salvation through his life, death, and resurrection, reconciling humanity with God and providing a path to eternal life.
Two catholics views on Jesus’ resurrection
. shows everybody that he was divine and truly God’s son
. Jeus’ resurrection shows his victory over death and sin.
One quote suggesting there should be architecture in churches
Churches are the “house of God” suggesting they should be taken care of
