Reliability Flashcards
(6 cards)
Reliability
Consistently if measurements
Inter rater
Same set of symptoms would get same diagnosis from psychiatrist
Test retest
Diagnosis is consistent over 2 different time periods for same patient using the same psychiatrist
Strength
I evidence showing diagnosis using dsm 5 and icd 10 have impressive levels of aggrement betw clinicabs
J brown tested reliability if diagnosis it mood disorders and anxiety using dsm 5 + galeazzi found high inter rater reliability for clinicans icd
E usefulness of diagnosis as it encourages confidence in clinician making consistent diagnosis
Strength
I evidence using diagnostic tools such as DSM give the same diagnosis when used over a long time period (test-retest reliability).
J Brown DSM -IV has excellent reliability scores for multiple mhd as scores for specific phobias are at 0.7 and for OCD it is at 0.75.
E DSM is a reliable diagnostic tool that can consistently identify mhd in individuals over time.
Weakness
I reass scores for some disorders show major variation in diagnosis
J trails of new DSM 5 kupfer going major depressive disorder w low reliability scores
E some diagnosis difffcesch they visit a clinician making the diagnosis unrealible
