What is the evolutionary ladder?
Made by Jean baptise lamarack believing that organisms change to meet their needs according to their changing environment. Organs that are no longer needed for survival will grow smaller until they eventually disappear.
What is natural selection?
Characteristics that help a species to survive will be passed onto each generation until all ,members of the species have inherited it.
What is intelligent design?
Claims that certain features of the universe and living things are best explained by an intelligent cause. Only god could have intervened.
What is the irreducible complexity?
Michael behe argues that some structures are too complex to be explained by evolution alone. A mousetrap consists of several interacting parts all which must be in place for it to work. Removal of any one piece destroys the function f the mousetrap
What is young earth creationism?
Claims a literal interpretation of the bible as a basis for its followers beliefs.
They believe that the earth is around 6000 to 10 000 years old.
All life was created in six 24 hour days, death came as a result of Adam and eves fall.
Geology must be interpreted in terms of Noah’s flood.
Therefore, they would reject the Big Bang theory and evolutionary theories as fossil records have gaps therefore there is no evidence that evolution took place, and scientists have never found the evidence for the link between apes and humans.
What is old earth creationism?
Accepts the great age of the earth, the six days are periods of unstated length that could have been millions of years long. Therefore, removing the need for Noah’s flood in terms of fossils.
Progressive creationism is a branch of old earth, that accepts the old age of the earth but the new species of plants and animals that have appeared are evidence that God directly intervenes to create those new species by methods science cannot explain.
