Learn
Formulas not in log table that are needed
When defining
-when you add a formula to the definition, make sure to write a key on what the letters/symbols stand for!!
when calculating during experiment questions
find the average value!!
heat questions (Experiments)
do not include calorimeter in calculations if “styrofoam” or perfect insulator
when you say “use insulation” as an answer
write examples
“using the graph…” during experiments
use the graph for calculations, dont use the values in the value table!!!
graph question
- dont forget to add title at the top
- write titles of x and y axis and their measurements
- configure the values before plotting them if needed
- draw a line through the values
- plot accurately, make sure the plotted points are clearly visible
when doing calculations
ALWAYS PUT EVERYTHING INTO SI UNITS AND PUT THE MEASUREMENT IN THE END!!! (EG. M/S)
when doing qs
-read the questions CAREFULLY!! do not miss a question that was written within another question
for example, “Draw a suitable graph to show the relationship… State this relationship and explain how your graph verifies it”
-DONT FORGET to do the last 2 questions after doing the graph!!
period
The period is the time it takes to complete one full cycle. The period of a pendulum is the time it takes for the pendulum to swing from left to right and back again.
angle
when using angles, use rads!!!!! the angular displacement is in rads, the angular velocity is in rad/sec
units
use the values they give u at the bottom of the question eg. if they say use g = 9.8
when writing definitions
give examples whenever u can
charge, current, time formula
Q = It
diagrams
learn diagrams on the extra sheets
Modern physics diagrams to learn
on ppt slide
before doing calculations
check at the bottom of the qs if they give you any constants that are rounded up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
units
make sure to give answer in units they want if there is a stated unit, eg “ in years” –> turn seconds to years!!
dont forget
- write the correct units
- give answer in units/decimal points that they want if they specify
- write out all calculations
- always write formulas down before starting calculations
- pay attention as you do calculations, don’t accidentally change values in the middle of them
- change everything to SI unit!!
- make sure you fully understand what they want and what to do before attempting the question
when converting units
if unit is x/y, x and y are calculated differently!! remember the rule
when doing graphs
make necessary conversions/adjustments to values before drawing graph (eg. sin i / sin r graph, not i vs r graph)
