Q
  1. BUCS:
A

people were keen. Introduced rule to play 7/10 for “Blues”. Only texture we didn’t have a full team for got cancelled anyway. Did well in the season- beat Brookes Women’s Is, Loughborough W2s, both home and away; promoted to the new South Prem. Did our first Prem Playoffs!

  1. Pre-Varsity training:
A

ran at Merton with post-training donuts. In my view a definite success.

Q
  1. Socials:
A

managed to squeeze in a couple for team bonding pre-Varsity. This was nice but potentially could’ve started earlier. I would recommend as you can tailor more to teams personal preference.

Q
  1. Varsity:
A

lost 3-2. Amelia apparently dominated (I was next door getting chopped) and Selina had a phenomenal win. Daniela took a decisive first game and was a real contender. Team vibes were immaculate.

Q
  1. Trinity:
A

I’ve rusticated so Aria and Daniela are acting in Captaincy. Khushi is visiting from Stanford. Hope all is well! I miss Jason.

Q

MVP

A

this is a player who is always ready to sub in and absolutely dominate a BUCS fixture at late notice, she hasn’t skipped a private fixture, always come prepared to training with spare snacks, and to private fixtures with extra paper and pens, and also managed to never miss a social. Besides these bits and bobs, she also has the unenviable task of managing the entire club. I think we are all aware that it is an awful lot of work to be club President, but something tells me what I’m imagining is somehow only the tip of an iceberg. So for doing all this, all year, with your characteristic humility and charm, I’m awarding MVP this year to Aria.

Q

MIP

A

this is a player who, as I mentioned in my Varsity speech, turned up to our women’s taster session, which was designed for people who have never played squash. It was clear that this person had already played squash. Even with this promising start, she climbed up the ranks during challenge period, and delivered a really promising Varsity performance. I’m pretty glad I’ve rusticated, so I don’t have to get brutally knocked out of the team by our most improved Daniela.

Q

Just to sign-off, I

A

would like to say that currently as a player I am rusticated, so I can’t play for the team; and also injured by falling off that train after the shorbagy event; so can’t really play full stop honestly. And these things have brought into sharp relief just how much I love the team, how important it’s been in my life these past few years, and how grateful I am to have been captain. So id just like to thank everyone for the parts they’ve played in giving that to me. But also to breathe a sigh of relief, because I will categorically never have to face Ellie White in a Varsity match. And don’t worry too much- I’ll see you all next year.
