Q

Describe the fertilisation of a plant.

A
  • After pollination, a pollen tube grows down the style to the ovary.
  • Two male gametes move through the pollen tube (sperm).
  • when the pollen tube reaches the ovule, the nucleases of the two gametes fuse with the egg cell nucleus thus forming a zygote.
  • The zygote later becomes a plant.
