How do you measure the size of a population?

A
  • Place quadrats at random
  • count the number of desired species
  • calculate the mean of all the quadrats
  • Calculate the area you are investing
  • use those two numbers to work out the size of the population

How do you measure the distribution of a species?

A

Transect + quadrat
A tape measure across a different environment.
It’s always dependant on an abiotic factor then place the quadrat at regular intervals, measure the size of the abiotic factor i.e light levels or soil pH
Compare how the distribution of the species changes

What do you do to work out reaction time?

A

Hold a ruler above a persons hand
Drop the ruler and the other person catches it
Record the number of cm the ruler is caught
Convert the cm into reaction time
Compare how the independent variable affects the reaction time
