Variable resistor
what is the equation for Resistance?
Resistance (Ohms) = Potential differnce (Volts) / Current (Amps)
what is each symbol for resistor, potential difference, and current?
V - potential difference
I - current
R - resistance
what is the equation for Potential difference?
Potential difference = Current x Resistance
What is an independent variable?
Something you change
What is a dependent variable?
Measurement, thing you will measure
What is a control variable?
Something you keep to make the test fair
What are the two different circuits?
series circuit and parallel circuit
what is a disadvantage of a series circuit?
if one of the bulbs break then the entire circuit doesn’t work.
-(x)-
bulb
-(v)-
voltmeter
-(m)-
Motor
–I i–
cell
-I i- -I i
battery
what is a parallel circuit?
different components connected to different parts of a wire, usually having wires parallel to one another.
why is a parallel circuit better than a series?
If in a parallel circuit one of the components break then the rest of the components on the other wire will carry on working, however, they won’t produce as much energy as if both of the components were working on both wires.
The electrical conductor has what type of resistance?
Low resistance
The electrical insulator has what type of resistance?
High resistance
