Q

What happens to lactic acid during vigorous exercise?

A

It builds up in muscles and blood, causing an oxygen debt

9
Q

How is the oxygen debt removed after exercise?

A

After an exercise, the fast heart rate continues to transport the lactic acid in the blood from the muscles to the liver.
Deeper and faster breaths are continued for the lactic acid to be broken down
Once the lactic acid reaches the liver, it is broken down by the glucose.
