Structure of the lungs
A
Pleura: Membrane covering surface of the lungs and lines the inside of the chest.
Pleural fluid: Fluid between the two layers of pleura. (allows lungs to slide up and down the chest cavity)

Inspiration/Inhalation
A
Pressure inside lungs must be lower than outside.
Increase volume of the lungs decreases the pressure –> Contract the diaphragm and intercostal muscles.
