Gentrification, urban development schemes and sustainable communities
What does a sustainable community require?
Access to homes, job and income
What is an urban development scheme?
Large scale investment programmes (property led)
How do urban development cooperation work?
Companies were government funded and they had power to acquire land and attract the private sector
How do enterprise zones work?
Incentives were given to companies that move into the specific zones in order to create attraction to that area
The process of housing improvement, characterised by the inward movement of a population to run down areas

•pioneer group move in
•increase house prices

•more affluent middle class individuals move in
What visual signs can be seen from gentrification?
Wine bars, gastro bars, gyms and open green spaces

Cheap house prices and location to CBD
