Q

What is the difference between a warm + cold front?

A
  1. Warm fronts occur when cold fronts are crashed into by a warm air mass, causing it to rise.
  2. Cold fronts occur when warm fronts and cold fronts collide, and driven upward.
  3. The cold front never rises, but the warm front does.

Q

Summarise how weather changes as a depression (warm/cold) front passes.

A

When it’s a warm front (which always comes first) the warm air moves and rises slowly above cold air, which creates Nimbostratus clouds.
When it’s a cold front (which comes after the warm front) the cold air moves and violently pushes the warm air upwards making Cumulonimbus clouds.
