1. Even before matching there was a disagreeing between Richard and Crusaders.
2. Some soldiers las lad enough and abandoned the army moving back to Jaffa and Acre.

1. Richard was worried his brother and Philip were plotting against rather than focusing on Jerusalem.
2. Richard decided to turn back, some feel this was a huge mistake as Saladin was running out of money and couldn’t afford to pay for his soldiers to fight.

Why was Richard unlucky?

1. Marched 12 miles, however heavy rains and violent hailstorms made good supplies wet and soggy and clothes wet through.

1. Saladin sent small raiding parties to ambush Richard on way to Beit Nuba.
2. Saladin poisoned the wells around Jerusalem causing Richard to be tight on supplies.
