A

Robespierre was the leader of the Montagnards. There was a struggle between the Montagnards and Girondins. Robespierre had the support of the radical sans-culottes.

Robespierre called for an insurrection against ‘corrupt’ deputies. National Guard surrounded the Convention and arrested 29 Girondins. 21 of them were executed
