Figurehead
Represents the organization in all matters of formality
Figurehead, Top Level
Represents the company legally and socially to those outside the organization

Represents the work group and the higher management to one another
Liaison, Top Level
Uses liaison role to gain favors and info
Liaison, Supervisor
Uses liaison role to maintain flow of work
Monitor
Receives/Collects information
Disseminator
Manager transmits special information into the organization
Disseminator, Top Level vs Supervisor
Top level receives and transmits more info from people outside the org than the supervisor

Top level receives and transmits more info from people outside the org than the supervisor
Spokesperson
Disseminates org’s info into its environment. (Top level is seen as an industry expert, whereas the supervisor is considered a unit or departmental expert)

Manager initiates change
Disturbance Handler
Manager deals with threats to the organization
Resource Allocator
Chooses where organization will expend effort
Negotiator
Negotiates on behalf of organization. Top level negotiates for whole business, supervisor does it for smaller unit/department.
