What is the protocol for newborn life support?

What is the first thing you do in newborn resus and within how long?
Within 60 seconds:
Start timer on resuscitataire
- Dry the baby and cover
- Assess tone, breathing, HR
- If gasping or not breathing open airway and give 5 rescue breaths
REASSESS for HR and breathing
What do you do if no improvement after reassessing?
If chest not moving:
- Recheck head position
- Repeat inflation breaths and montior sats
- Reassess
If chest moving:
IF HR is slow (under 60) start 3:1 chest compressions and reassess heart rate every 30s. Consider venous access and drugs
