6
Q

assume Quiet State

A

There will be certain engineering restrictions laid out in the Ship’s Quiet Running Bill. This will inform the Engineering Dept. to switch to the quietest engine/motor available, and dependant on the quiet state, switch off some services.

The MCR will report to you when they’ve made their engineering changes (can take up to 30 minutes) and the POOW will confirm that signs have been switched. Everyone off-watch goes to their rack and stays there

SUB : SSM:
Diesel/Electric Midget Submarine - mostly for ISR (intelligence surveillance recon) and Special Forces insertion, limited ASuW, predominantly littoral
26
SUB : SSP:
Diesel/Electric Conventional Submarine with AIP - Air Independent Propulsion assisted, can charge batteries while submerged, great range and endurance
27
River City States - information going off a ship - 4 River City States
RC4 - Normal ops (least restrictive) RC3 - Restricted bandwidth - considered for bandwidth requirements (video, large files, etc.), includes discontinuation of DWAN web browsing, unclass emails - limited duration RC2 - Restricted access - task group contingency planning and ops, opposed MIO ops and high visibility/threat area port visits RC1 - Most restrictive - hostilities, mass casualties, missing vessel or craft, MOB, fires, delicate situations that could result in international incident
28
Capabilities and limitations of MPA (Aurora)
Sensors: Visual sensor suite for long-range ID ISAR: Inverse synthetic aperture radar, gives a profile of the contact which allows the MPA to identify the class of the vessel B-SCAN: Gives the length of the vessel Can carry weapons such as harpoons Capabilities for ASW Visually (feathers) Sonobuoys MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detector)
29
Sub threat warnings Red:
Red: Attack imminent or underway
30
Sub threat warnings - Yellow
Yellow: Attack is probable
31
Sub threat warnings - White
White: Attack not probable

What are the submarine contact classifications? CERTSUB:
Contact sighted and positively identified as a submarine
36
What are the submarine contact classifications? PROBSUB:
Cumulative evidence says it’s a sub (as sure as you can be without seeing it)
37
What are the submarine contact classifications? POSSUB:
(High 3,4 and Low 1,2) May be a sub, but insufficient evidence to declare PROBSUB (maybe a sub, maybe not)
38
POSSUB LOW: POSSUB HIGH: More likely than POSSUB LOW to be a sub but insufficient evidence to be a PROBSUB
Probably not a sub but can't complete rule it out.
39
POSSUB HIGH:
More likely than POSSUB LOW to be a sub but insufficient evidence to be a PROBSUB
