Q

How does a tooth supported RPD function?

A

FIRST choice for RPD

  • Transmit load via PDL
  • Allows denture to feel like natural dentition
  • More comfortable
  • Protects trauma of soft tissue

Q

What is the compressive difference between tooth and mucosa?

A

Tooth (i.e. periodontium) = 0.1mm

Mucosa = 0.2mm

–> RPI system to reduce this discrepancy
