9
Q

What does the Breakout Test Panel do?

A

The breakout panel is used in conjunction with the Oscilloscope to aid in diagnosis of problems with the DECS, GTC3S, or WSOMSNet circuits. The panel breaks out the circuit signals for ease of probing with TMDE.

11
Q

What do the Black/Red Patch Panels do?

A

The Black/Red Patch Panels provide physical, hard-contact access to any data circuit, and through the use of patch cord, the operator can directly monitor a circuit, split the data circuit and test the circuit toward the DTE, or test the circuit toward the DCE.

16
Q

What does the Fiber Distribution Patch Panel do? (Single and Multi Mode)

A

Single Mode- Provides a connection for single mode fiber connected to the Black Rack for the PCU/2’s

Multi Mode- Provides a connection for multi-mode fiber connected to the Black Rack for the MSPP

17
Q

What does the Fiber Optic Media Converter do?

A

Converts between Ethernet and Fiber Optic.

Red Rack- Rack 4 contains a media converter which connects the SAASM NTP signal to the WSOMSNet router

Black Rack- Rack 10 contains a media converter which connects the SAASM NTP signal to the Black RMCE network

18
Q

What does PCU/2 stand for and what does it do?

A

Port Concentrator Unit Cable Extension

Provides interfaces to extend GTC3S circuits up to two kilometers over single mode fiber

Multiplexes and converts the incoming 16 RS-232 inputs onto a single mode fiber output

19
Q

What does MSPP stand for and what does it do?

A

Multiservice Provisioning Platform

The MSPP aggregates data, voice, and video services for transport

Provides efficient data switching and cross connect functions for: 10/100/100-Mbps Ethernet interfaces and 2-Mbps to 2.5-Gbps Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) traffic in optical networks

20
Q

What does the Customer Interface Patch Panel do?

A

The Customer Interface Patch Panel provides a communication path for the T1 circuits with the ability to monitor and reroute them with the patching capability.

21
Q

What does the Channel Service Unit/ Data Service Unit (CSU/DSU) do?

A

Converts a parallel T1 signal into a serial T1 signal and vice versa

Provides selectable data rates from 56 Kbps to 1536 Kbps

*Various loopbacks and Bit Error Rate Test (BERT) are built into the CSU/DSU

22
Q

What is GT3CS circuit signal flow?

A

Red side P/P > KIV-7m > Black side P/P > WSOC PCU/2 > Fiber Interface > TCF PCU/2 > Network

23
Q

What is the T1 circuit signal flow?

A

Red side P/P > KIV-7M > Black side P/P > CSU/DSU >T1 P/P > MSPP > TCF Peer Device > Network

24
Q

What is the DS3 circuit signal flow?

A

Red side P/P > KIV 7M w/ DS3 Module > Black side P/P > MSPP > TCF Peer Device > Network
