Extrication Tips

A
  • Fire - kit dump, debris dump
  • Take lifepak and primary to pt
  • Get extrication board early
  • Check seat mechanisms if recline, move forward ect
  • Remove head rests
  • Extrication time - monitoring/O2 off
  • Speak loudly
  • Have a plan A and plan B
  • ‘Is anyone NOT ready’ and ‘ready brace move’

  • Glass and glass fumes
  • Airbag system may not have deployed yet
  • Foam in roof can be toxic
  • Trip hazards
  • Electric car - don’t know how to deal with fire and can reignite
