SA Cert Section 2 Flashcards
(4 cards)
What is High Availability
(A.O.MDT)
ability of a system to remain accessible, operational, minimizing down time
How does a company achieve HA
(R)
This is achieved through redundancy. Redundancy means maintaining multiple copies of data (replica sets).
This provides a backup resource, ensuring a seamless transition to ensure high uptime and availability.
Workload isolation
S.D.W
separating different types of database workloads (transactional, analytical) to prevent them from interfering with each other. This helps improve performance, reliability, and resource efficiency.
What is Sharding? Give an example.
H.S. G
Method of horizontal scaling by distributing data across multiple servers.
Examples of Sharding include Geo-based sharding (location based sharding). Data is partitioned based on geographic location to users, placing data closer to where it’s accessed to reduce latency.
