Why is the sacrament of reconciliation important for Catholics?
The sacrament of reconciliation is important as you get forgiven for your sins. You confess and with your absolution and penance you get a clean slate to start over from.

Goes back to Adam and Eve, we are all born with sin, it’s whether we choose to do it or not
