Q

What is random quadratting?

A

= place 2 measuring tapes at right angles- x and y axis and apply random coordinates and place a quadranr in this region
= abundance is estimated using this quadrant
= repeat many times for reliable results- until running mean is similar
= calculate avaerga enumber of irgansims per quadrant area
= times by the area of the region being ivestigated to estimate population suze

Q

What is systematic sampling?

A

= position transect across area randomly
= decide an appropriate interval
= abundance estimated using a quadrant
= repeat to get reliabke results
= until running mean is similar

Q

What is mark capture release?

A

= capture species first
= make the species so they do not get repeated
= species are released to redirtubiute
= captyure second sample and record how many total and how many marked
