How many firefighters are needed to rescue a down firefighter in a basement?
3 (ideally 4)
When transfilling between SCBA’s which SCBA is the donor and which is the receiver?
The one with a higher pressure is the doner and the one with the lowest pressure is the receiver
When would you NOT transfill to another SCBA?
If you’re low pressure warning device is sounding. Doner’s bottle must be at least 2,000 psi
When does the SCBA low pressure warning begin sounding?
at 35% (plus or minus 2%), or at 1,500-1,575 psi or 1/3 of bottle pressure
What apparatus’s are the S-Cut tool located on?
Distract Chief Vans, Both FRP units, all Rescues
Which shoulder strap of the SCBA is the first to put on and the last to take off?
The left side - because your air hose is on the left side
What are the 4 distinct SCBA emergencies?
- Straps, buckles, and harness
- face piece
- hoses and regulator
- out of air and cylinder
If you have a problems with your SCBA straps how long should you spend remedying the problem before exiting the IDLH environment due to strap problem?
30 seconds
If you experience a backplate or harness failure what should you do?
Exit structure immediately
if your face piece cracks or melts (also known as crazing) what should you do?
- Get as low to ground as possible and try to cover sense as best you can. If lens is melting don’t put any pressure on lens
- call mayday
- exit structure
If your SCBA hose is cut what type of breathing should you consider? and what should you do?
Wheel breathing
place hose in jacket and continue breathing if possible
What is wheel breathing?
This is where you control the air flow by opening and closing the cylinder wheel by hand. You open the cylinder just to take a breath and then close it.
What should you do if you run out of air?
1) shield your airway
2) stay low
3) call MAYDAY
4) Consider transfilling of possible
5) exit structure if possible
What color is the Air light fill station tag?
Green
What color is the training academy fill station tag?
Blue
What color is the High Rise Support fill station tag?
Yellow
What color is the station 16 fill station tag?
Pink

When should you not use the academy fill station?
if wind greater than 15 knots is coming out of the east to south east and the burn tower or burn pans are being used.
When your cylinders air reaches 1/2 what should you do?
Notify your officer
