Signs and symptoms of schizophrenia:

A serious mental illness characterized by incoherent or illogical thoughts, bizarre behavior and speech, and delusions or hallucinations, such as hearing voices.
Schizophrenia
Belief that others are out to get him or her.
Delusions of persecution
A neutral environmental event is believed to have a special and personal meaning.
Delusions of reference
Belief that one is famous and an important figure or with unusual powers.
Delusions of grandeur
Belief that one’s thoughts or actions are being controlled by outside, alien forces.
Delusions of control
Disorganized speech: rapidly shifting from topic to topic, with no connection between one thought and the next.
Loose association
Disorganized speech: made-up words or phrases that only have meaning to the patient
Neologisms
Disorganized speech: repetitions of words and statements
Preservation
Disorganized speech: meaningless use of rhyming words
Clang
Negative symptoms: inexpressive face, including a flat voice, lack of eye contact, and blank or restricted facial expressions.
Lack of emotional expression
Negative symptoms: problems with motivation; lack of self-care
Lack of interest
Negative symptoms: apparent unawareness of the enviornment
Seeming lack of interest in the world
Negative symptoms: inability to carry a conversation; speaking in monotone
Speech difficulties and abnormalities
Revolve around a coherent, organized theme or story that remains consistent over time
Paranoid schizophrenia
Disorganized speech, behavior and blunted or inappropriate emotions
Disorganized schizophrenia
Disturbance in movement, either decrease or increase in motor activity
Catatonic schizophrenia
