Definition of weather.
The atmosphere at a place. Like rain, wind, sunshine and clouds.
Definition of bio-invasion.
When a species moves into a place where it is not native (not originally from there). It may sometimes cause problems to the local plants or animals.
Definition of competition.
When two or more things fight for the same limited resource. Everyone wants the same thing, but there’s not enough.
Definition and Example of extinction
When a species is completely gone. Example: Dinosaurs.
Definition and Example of endangerment.
When a species is in danger of becoming extinct. Example: Pandas.
Definition of extirpation.
When a species is gone from one place, but still lives somewhere else in the world.
Primary & secondary succession.
Primary succession is the ecological process of life beginning to colonize from scratch; no soil and no life. Secondary succession is where a disturbed ecosystem, restarting the process of succession but with soil.
Definition of ecological footprint.
How much nature you use in your life. Like how much land and water you use to make your food, stuff and handle your waste.
Definition of high ecological footprint.
If you have a high ecological footprint, you use lots of the earth’s resources.
