Scientific methods
The ways in which scientists follow steps to answer questions and solve problems
Hypothesis
An explanation that is based on prior scientific research or observations and that can be tested
Controlled Experiment
An experiment that tests only one factor at a time by using comparison of a control group with an experimental group
Variable
a factor that changes in an experiment in order to test a hypothesis
Control Group
The group in an experiment or study that does not receive treatment by the researchers and is then used as a benchmark to measure how the other tested subjects do
Experimental group
The group that receives a treatment in an experiment
Step 1 in scientific method
Make an observation
Step 2 in scientific method
Form a question
Step 3 in scientific method
Form a hypothesis
Step 4 in scientific method
Conduct an experiment
Step 5 in scientific method
