scoring scales Flashcards
(5 cards)
What is muscle tones scoring scale
4+ sustained response (severe hypertonia)
3+ exaggerated response (mild to moderate hypertonia)
2+ normal response
1+ decreased response (hypotonia)
0 no response (flaccidity)
same grading scale as deep tendon reflexes
What is the modified ashworth scale grading? (spasticity)
0: no increase in muscle tone
1: slight increase in muscle tone, manifested bya catch and release or by minimal resistance at end ROM when affected part is moved
1+: slight increase in muscle tone, manifested by a catch, followed by minimal resistance throughout the remainder (<1/2) of ROM
2: more marked increase in muscle tone through most of ROM, but affected parts easily moved
3: consierable increase in muscle toe, passive movement difficult
4: affected parts rigid in ROM
documented as muscle group being stretch ( moving through flexion means you are testing extensors)
duringthe pendulum test, reduced occulations is indicative of?
spasticity (hypertonicity)
What is the grading for movement fractionation?
no scale, just document if the movemetn was fractionated or unfractionated at the joint
What is the grading for spinal cord tests
norma = 5/5 probes
impaired = 1-4 correct, or 5 probes correct but feels different from reference
absent = 0 probes correct
