What is the main part of the Scout Badge called?
The Trefoil.

The bond of brotherhood and friendship among Scouts.

An arrowhead on an old compass, always pointing in the right direction.
How is the Scout Salute made when wearing a hat or beret?
The right hand is brought up in front and above the right ear, with fingers just touching the edge of the hat
How is a smart Scout Salute performed?
Hand goes up in a wide arc and comes straight down at the end (longest way up, shortest way down).
How is the salute done when carrying a Scout stave?
Salute with the left hand, with the stave held in the right hand, touching the fingertips to the stave.
How do Scouts shake hands?
Using their left hands.
What does the Scout handshake symbolize?
Trust and friendship.
Question: Why is using the left hand for the handshake a sign of trust?
Because warriors carried shields in their left hand; offering it leaves you vulnerable.
What is another reason Scouts use the left hand for the handshake?
The left hand is closer to the heart.
