breast cancer screening
mammogram q2years 40-74 years
*women with dense breasts D have an annual mammogram
*high risk women 30 - 69yo yearly mammogram & breast MRI
colon cancer screening
asymptomatic individuals 50-74yo
options:
- FIT q2years
- Flex sigmoidoscopy q5yrs
- Colonoscopy q10years
*Anyone with first degree relative or strong FHx, IBD or previous history of CRC/polyps should have colonoscopy
*Abnormal = rapid colonoscopy within 8 weeks
cervical cancer screening
Pap tests for all sexually active (regardless of gender of partners) age 25 - 69 q5 years
*only HPV testing, reflex cytology done if HPV is positive
* can stop screening if you’ve had 1 negative test from 65-69
if HPV positive, reflex cytology auto done:
- HPV 16, 18/45 - refer to colposcopy
- other high risk strains –> high grade cytology (ASC- H, LSIL-H, HSIL etc) goes to colp
- normal or low grade cytology (NILM, ASCUS< LSIL) - repeat screening in 2 years, if positive go to colp
*takes 15-20 years for oncogenic types to lead to cervical cancer
*immunocompromised screen at 3yr interval
*80% of people will have a positive HPV test in their lifetime, majority will clear it
lung cancer screening
55-74 yo with a 20 pack year history have annual low dose CT scan
Bone density screen
all men and women 65yo+
Diabetes screen
HBA1c or FBG
- screen low risk q3years if over 40yo
Cholesterol (lipids, eGFR, Lipo(a) once)
- men >40, women > 50
- repeat q 5-10years
AAA screening
men 65-80yo
