Scuba Test Flashcards
(28 cards)
What are the normal and max working limits of Scuba?
Normal - 130
Max - 190 with OIC approval deeper than 130
Calculate PSI with set of twin 80s with 100 scf
FV of twin 80s is .399
(SCF x 14.7) / N X FV
What are the decompression tables authorized for scuba diving oeprations?
U.S. Navy air deco tables with CO or OIC approval
What is the RNT exception rule?
Typically when the surface interval between 2 dives is short
When residual decompression time is more than what is needed
Aquire decompression time using traditional method
THEN
Calculate total bottom time for both dives, take the deeper depth and recompute table and schedule. Take the shorter decompression time between the two methods. If the second method is used, this is considered the RNT exception rule
Can a diver make a scuba dive following a mk16 dive within a 18 hour period?
Yes, as long as it was an N2O2 dive.
Just use the RNT designator from the dive method completed and enter that into the new dive method surface interval table
Minimum items for a scuba dive
Mask
Fins
Knife
Watch
Cylinder
BC
Pressure Gauge
Depth Gauge
Weight
When is an octopus mandatory
For standby
What information is found on the neck of a scuba cylinder?
DOT rating
Hydro Date
Rated Pressure
What are the inspection requirements for scuba cylinders
1 year - VIP
5 year - Hydro
What is the minimum SCUBA cylinder size?
50 scf
When a cylinder valve without an air reserve (k Valve) is used, the SCUBA regulator must be equipped with?
J valve
When must a scuba dive be terminated?
- Deemed unsafe
- Supervisor decision
- EP Occurs
- Min pressure of 500 reached
3 basic types of lifelines?
- Buddy line
- Tending line
- Float line
When should a lifeline be used?
- No direct access to the surface
- single diver
- standby diver
- low vis/night
When should a float line be used, and what size should it be?
- Direct access to the surface
- Buoy must be at least 11 inches and recommended to be brightly colored
Difference between distance line and buddy line
Buddy line - connects 2 divers and is 10 feet or less
Distance line - greater than 10 feet but less than 100
How often are air samples completed?
- between 4-8 months
- contamination is suspected
- after system overhaul
Strain reliefs married to charging hoses will be made from what type material and married at what interval?
- Chain, cable, 21-thread, 3/8 nylon
- married with 1/8 inch nylon or equivalent every 18 inches
When must over bottoms be checked and what are they set to for SRDDs regulators?
- Prior to each dive
- 123 psi
What must be used in poor visibility during buddy diving
Buddy line and or tending line
When using externally powered tool with SCUBA, what must a diver have?
An ANU approved tool and grounding equipment
What is the charging rate for SCUBA?
- 200 psi/min dry
- 400 psi/min wet
List all line pull signals
Draw out
What is required to be briefed prior to splashing a SCUBA diver?
- Mission/plan
- Address any questions
- Med plan
- EPs
- Abort Criteria
- Pre-dive checks (min equipment)
