A

Hamilton- copy Britain & wanted manufacturing, trade, & growth of cities (all factories).
Jefferson- felt farmers were the backbone of America, felt manufacturing favored only the rich & elite & took power away from ppl (farms).

What was the outcome of the election of 1796 & why was it significant?

A

John Adams (Federalist) became President and Thomas Jefferson (Democratic-Republican) became Vice President. First U.S. election with competing political parties, and the only time the President and Vice President were from opposing parties, which led to serious political tension in the administration.

Jefferson- felt Franc was our ally in the revolution & we gave our world to help them & they were fighting for liberty.
