What must the PIC ensure regarding fuel and oil?
That the aircraft is serviced with the grade of fuel and oil in accordance with the AFM.

Check the invoice for type and quantity of fuel delivered.

In front of or close to the entry door.
What is strictly prohibited during refueling?
Any smoking or open flame.
What should the PIC do before fueling with passengers on board?
Notify the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting services to assume a standby position.
What is the minimum distance for no smoking around refueling operations?
100 feet from the aircraft or less than 100 feet downwind from a refueling truck.
What type of fire extinguisher must be readily available during refueling?
A fire extinguisher for Class B and C fires.
What should be done with external power units during refueling?
They should normally be turned off and not started until fueling is completed.
What should not be done with aircraft batteries during refueling?
They shall not be removed or installed.
What should be protected from dings during refueling?
The leading edge of the wing.
What should be used to protect fuel openings during rain or snow?
An umbrella or any other suitable cover.
What should not be placed close to fuel openings?
Loose objects such as screwdrivers, clipboards, or small flashlights.
What type of flashlights should be used near fueling receptacles?
UL approved for use in locations with flammable fumes.
What type of tools should not be used on the aircraft during refueling?
Spark emitting electric tools.
Can aircraft maintenance be performed during normal aircraft refueling?
No.
What should be done if a thunderstorm is within a three mile radius of the airport?
No fueling will be initiated or continued.
