Q
Internal Sensory Organs
A
Body temperature, blood pressure, electrolyte level- all automatic but still important and sensitive to changing external events
1
Q
Sensory-Motor Integration
A
They go together, you can’t be a human without both of them
2
Q
Sense Modality
A
- there are different sensory channel, each one is tuned to a specific thing
- Ex: auditory modality is tuned to hear things
3
Q
Sense organ
A
- every modality has an organ tuned to that one
- it has special receptors and transduction (change in form of energy)
4
Q
Receptive fields
A
- each sense organ has one
- max amount and limitations
- Ex: auditory, maximally tuned to sound waves within human speech, not tuned to high or low frequencies
5
Q
Coding
A
- nervous system and neurological signal codes for quality
- we are able to tell if a touch on the back is hard or soft
6
Q
Labeled lines*
A
- type of coding
- dedicated receptor gets activated and gives us a certain reaction
7
Q
Pattern coding*
A
- type of coding
- neurons may respond in patterns depending on the coding
