Q

What is sex?

A

Refers to an individual’s biological status as male or female.

Determined by biological factors such as chromosomes (e.g. males = XY, females = XX), hormones (e.g. testosterone, oestrogen), and anatomical differences (e.g. reproductive organs). Example: A person with XY chromosomes, higher levels of testosterone, and male genitalia would be biologically classified as male.
