Why should u never assume drivers will give u space? Aka Why should u not turn just bc approaching v has turn signal on?

Don’t turn just bc approaching vehicle has turn signal on They might be turning after passing u or or their signal didn't turn off esp motorcycles WAIT TILL THEY ACTUALLY START TURNING

How large a gap do u need 2 pass at 55mph?

10 sec gap in oncoming traffic & in sight distance

How much space is needed to pass at 55mph (Ft/mile)

55mph u & oncoming vehicle travel >800ft in 10 secs, meaning u need 1600ft or 1/3 mile to pass

How should u drive when following or next to large vehicles?

Give them extra space B attentive and ready 2 slow/react Strongly avoid driving right next to them Change lanes 2 avoid being next to them if safe If might be in blindspot speed up/drop back to visibility

Give extra space to person behind u Change lanes if safe If being tailgated and all traffic is clear, gradually slow down 2 encourage them 2 pass

Give them extra space Be attentive Be ready to slow down

Why should u give ppl xtra space approaching railrds?

U & driver ahead has room 2 stop Some vehicles required 2 always stop @ railrd xings

Why should u give xtra room when stopped on a hill/incline?

In case v ahead rolls, in case v is slow going up, in case u pick up speed going down

Why shouldnt u pass in intersections?

Can't see what's happening in intersection bc view blocked by driver ur passing Drivers turning right into approaching lane won't expect u 2 be oncoming in their lane Big vehicles swing wide & sometimes cross centerline 2 turn

When is it ok 2 drive in a bike lane?

Only when turning or when crossing bike lane is necessary 2 park by the curb. Otherwise NEVER

How much space should be between u & and biker ur passing/overtaking?

@ least 3+ft space between any part of ur vehicle & the bike

How should u pass bicyclists?

Pass 2 left of ped/bike who's on right shoulder or bike lane @ distance that clearly avoids contact w them

When can u drive in the left lane if bikes/peds r approaching?

When width & condition of rd, shoulder &/or bike lane is safe for it

Where should u check 4 bikes & be xtra attentive?

Scan intersections When changing lanes Turning Backing check for bikes out of normal range of view

What should u do instead of trying to share lane w biker?

Follow bike & wait till safe 2 pass. Never attempt 2 share lane w bike

If bike needs room in ur lane and there's multiple lanes for traffic in the same direction what should u do?

Move to lane immediately left if safe

What should u take into account when considering how much space u give ppl?

Remember to think ab projecting mirrors, loads & other possible hazards that r part of ur vehicle space Higher speed limit = xtra space more important

Can you tell what speed a bike is travelling? Why might bikers change position while biking?

Bikes may b faster or slower than u think or may change position 2 avoid hazards u cant see

Is it ok to pass a bike B4 turning?

If turning right don’t pass bike right b4 turning, slow & let bike clear intersection 1st

Since your brakes are stronger than a bikes, you should;

Not slow or stop quickly after passing bike
