What is shoulder impingement?
A
- Clinical sign rather thean a diagnosis
- Exact pathology is unclear
- Begins with an overuse injury with tendinopathy of supraspinatus
- Umbrella term ‘subacromial pain syndrome’

A
- Subacromial bone spurs
- RC disease
- Superior labral injury
- Glenohumeral internal rotation deficit
- Biceps tendinothapy
- Cervical radiculopathy

Common causes
A
- Pain transmission from tendinopathy can cause increased nerve density of the tendon

Signs and symptoms
A
- Pain transmission is usually gradual
- Anterior, lateral or posterior shoulder pain
- Painful arc between 70-120 degrees
- Tenderness over insertion of supraspinatus
- Posterior capsule tightness
- Excessive tightness of pectoralis minor
