  • Begins with an overuse injury with tendinopathy of supraspinatus
  • Umbrella term ‘subacromial pain syndrome’

  • RC disease
  • Superior labral injury
  • Glenohumeral internal rotation deficit
  • Biceps tendinothapy

  • Pain transmission from tendinopathy can cause increased nerve density of the tendon

Signs and symptoms

A
  • Pain transmission is usually gradual
  • Anterior, lateral or posterior shoulder pain
  • Painful arc between 70-120 degrees
  • Tenderness over insertion of supraspinatus
  • Posterior capsule tightness
  • Excessive tightness of pectoralis minor
