- Chest pain - an ache like someone is sitting on them
- Pain radiating to arms and jaw
- SOB
- Sweating
- Clammy
- Pale
What symptoms decrease the likelihood of it being an MI?
- Pleuritic pain
- Reproducable on palpation
- Positional
- Comes on with food
- GTN alleviates pain
What are the signs of MI?
- Raised sympathetic tone - Hypertension, tachy
- Raised parasympathetic tone - Hypo, Brady, Belching, nausea
- Impaired LV function - Mitral regurg, lung crackles
- GTN works
What are some complications of an MI?
- VF, VT, AF, heartblock
- Pericarditis (Dresslers)
- Another MI
- Heart necrosis and bleeding out
- Papillary muscle damage and murmurs
What is the correct pre hospital management of an MI?
- 999
- Aspirin
- GTN if available
What is the initial investigations when arriving to hospital?

What is the initial treatment for all types of MI?
MONA
- Morphine
- O2 if below 94%
- Nitrates

Thombolysis (Plasminogen activator)
