Red amulet on the left arm with white letters

3
Q

How will you know that any unworked points have been secured?

A

Green flag or light placed next to them

4
Q

Who will give you permission to enter the single line?

A

Pilotman

5
Q

When will you not receive a single line working ticket to enter the single line?

A

To assist a failed train
To evacuate passengers from a failed train
To remove a portion of a divided train
To remove a train or vehicles that have proceeded without authority

6
Q

What is the maximum speed of single line working in the wrong direction?

A

50 mph or the permissible line speed if lower than 50 mph

7
Q

What person must be informed that single line working is in operation?

A

Driver
Crossing keeper
Anyone working on or near the line that is being used that single line working is in operation and which line is being used

8
Q

What is the maximum speed when single line working is in the right direction?

A

Line speed

9
Q

When would you not travel ag line speed in the right direction?

A

If you are the first train travelling over single line working where you are needed to check points

10
Q

How do you dispose of the single line working ticket?

A

Write cancelled across it and hand to pilotman or if pilotman not present give to your supervisor when booking off duty

11
Q

If your train fails when single line working, who will arrange assistance?

A

If pilotman is present will make arrangements with the signaller.
If pilotman is not present signaller will contact pilotman

12
Q

What safety issue must be considered when single line working is taking place where there are more than two running lines?

A

Trains on adjacent running line may be travelling in a different direction to what you would expect.

13
Q

When will a pilotman accompany trains over a single line when working to or from a point of obstruction?

A

Will accompany all trains over the single line

14
Q

Give one reason why working of a single line by pilotman will be introduced?

A

To work to or from a point of obstruction as a result of both lines of a double line becoming blocked.
The token has been lost

15
Q

Control of movement- right direction.

Should it be required to pass a signal at danger, authority must be given by?

A

Signaller
Pilotman
Handsignaller
The provisions of rule book S5 would then apply

16
Q

Control of movement- wrong direction.

Controlled by?

A

Handsignals
Shunting or position light
Main aspect

17
Q

A

Start of TBW - yellow flag
Exit of TBW - yellow flag
Level crossing - green flag
Assistance protection - red flag
Ready to start - green flag
Single line working, points secured - green flag
Guard stop - red flag
Line workers obstruction - red flag
AHBCunder local control - green flag
CCTV, OD, RC with attendant - green flag
Controlled level crossing protected by signals where the hand signal is shown opposite the signal protecting the level crossing - yellow flag

18
Q

Signals
What colour handsignal would you expect to see on a
track circuit block - opposite the signal protecting the cross over where trains are returning to the proper line?
Or opposite any signal where trains may have to stop?

A
