name the differences between sunni and shi’a muslims
sunni- believe that Muhammad alone was given knowledge from Allah, so muslims must emulate the life of the prophet.
sunni- believe caliph should be elected
sunni - they believed abu bakhr should be chosen as first caliph because he was seen as a capable leader.
sunni- say caliph (leader)
shi’a- believe that Allah gave knowledge to the first imam, Ali, and this knowlege has been passed from imam to imam
shi’a- believed ali should be chosen as imam
shi’a- family of Muhammad should be successors
