What is history?
Study of the past including events, timelines, people, trends and inventions
What is a person who studies history called?
Historian
What do historians do?
Gather, sort and order evidence. They also question evidence to see whether it is correct or not.
What century is 1066 in?
11th century
What does BC stand for? What does a bigger number mean?
Before Christ. The greater the number the older it is.
Define a cause and consequence.
Cause = reason why the event happened.
Consequence = what happened after the event
Define short term and long term causes
Short term = the cause happens immediately b4 the event
Long term = cause happens long before the event
Define short term and long term consequences. Give an example.
Short term = happens directly after the event
Long term = occurs months, years, decades after the event.
What is change ?
A) Change involves exploring what happened over time
Define continuity
Major events continue to be the same over time.
Name the types of evidence and give an example
Oral
Visual
Written
Physical
Primary
Secondary

Give an example of bias and of being objective
Bias - an unfair subjective opinion e.g. red is the best colour
Objective - aiming to be fair, use of sources to develop knowledge
What does anachronism mean?
Historians mix up things from the wrong time period.
What is primary evidence?
Something that happens straight after the event.
