How were the slaves carried to the west African coast?
They would be chained horrifically and marched for many days.
How would slaves be chosen for work?
They would be advertised for the Europeans like objects.
What was the seasoning?
It was a terrible step in the journey to the Americas where the slaves would get dropped off earlier on to be tortured until they stopped fighting the idea of being a slave.
What were the conditions in slave ships like?
They were disgusting. The slaves were packed so closely that there was barely room to move. There was disease and malnutrition, and often there was no place to excrete of human waste. Because of this, many died.
How did the slave owners treat their slaves?
They punished them every chance they could get and thought of them as objects. Many of the women were unfairly used for sexual pleasure and the men terribly worked for manual labour.
