A

Nerve sends a signal to the muscle (an action potential).

That signal travels along the sarcolemma (muscle cell membrane).

It dives into the T-tubules (little tunnels into the muscle).

This triggers the sarcoplasmic reticulum to release calcium.

Calcium floods the inside of the cell → and now we move into sliding filament theory
