What makes up the cardiovascular system?
The cardiovascular system is made up of the heart and blood vessels.
What are the three main functions of the cardiovascular system?
Transports oxygen which flushes out lactic acid, transporting nutrients and clots blood.
What does blood clotting help with?
Blood contains platelets which helps clot our blood and form scabs which help stop bleeding and healing.
Why does our cardiovascular system control the body’s temperature?
If you get too hot blood vessels close the skin to get bigger. If you become too cold your vessels get smaller to avoid heat being lost.
What is vascular shunting?
Process that increases blood flow to active areas during exercise by diverting blood away from inactive areas.
What is adrenaline?
A hormone which the body creates to bring about a change in heart rate.
