-breaks only part the way across the bone
What is a transverse fracture
A break straight across the bone
What is an impacted fracture
Pieces lock into each other
What is a communited fracture
Bone broken into more than 2 pieces

Bone breaks at an angle

What is a soft tissue injury
Joint injury(where two or more bones meet
What is a dislocation
When a bone at a joint is forced out of it’s normal position
What are fractures
Broken or cracked bone
What are abrasions
Friction of the skin against a rough surface
What are concussions
Blow to the head which cam cause:headaches, loss of coordination
,confusion and slurred speech
What is torn cartilage
Damage to our elastic substances which line adjoining bones and are often due to wear and tear
What is a strain
Twisted pull or tear of a muscle or tendon
What is a sprain
Damage to ligaments can caused by falling or landing awkwardly
What does RICE stand for?
Rest,Ice,Compress,
Elevate
What does rest refer to in RICE
Rest injured area for 48 hours at least
What does ice refer to in RICE
Ice area for 20 mins at a time, 4-8 times a day
What does compress refer to in RICE
Compress the area to help reduce the swelling
What does elevate refer to in RICE
Elevate the injured area limb 6-10 inches above the heart
